LANCASHIRE MUM ESCAPES JAIL AFTER BEATING 12-YEAR-OLD

A Lancashire mum has escaped jail after admitting attacking her daughter with a computer cable, her fists and a wooden spoon.

The 37-year-old asylum seeker pleaded guilty to child cruelty at Preston Crown Court.

She has been given a 12 month suspended sentence after the judge was told she is now taking medication for mental health problems.

The 12-year-old girl is now back living with her mother in East Lancashire.
